Course Description
Taking the exam. The professional credential exams measure your understanding ofgreen building design, construction and operations. The LEED AP exams also assess your understanding of the LEED rating system and your ability to facilitate the certification process.
Who Should Apply?
Eligibility for LEED GA
- LEED Green Associate: There are no eligibility requirements. However, It is recommended that you have exposure to LEED and green building concepts through education, volunteering, or work experience.
Price
- LEED Green Associate exam: USGBC/CaGBC members/full-time students: $200 (non-members: $250)
- Combined exam (LEED Green Associate and LEED AP with specialty): USGBC/CaGBC members: $400 (non-members: $550)
What is the exam format & length?
The LEED Green Associate exam is comprised of one part, which contains 100 randomly delivered multiple choice questions and must be completed in 2 hours (additional time will not be provided). There is also an optional 10 minute tutorial and an optional 10 minute exit survey. Please note that if you exit the exam session, the exam cannot be restarted and the exam session and fee are forfeited.
The questions are scored and unscored, but they are delivered randomly and you are not informed of their status, so you should respond to all questions. Unscored questions are used to inform whether the item should be scored on future exams.
Gain and Maintain Your LEED GA
All LEED professionals are required to maintain their credential by earning continuing education hours.
- LEED Green Associates must earn 15 continuing education hours within two years of earning their credential. LEED APs must earn 30 continuing education hours within two years of earning their credential.
